Mediation

lundi 7 mai 2018, par David GRIMA, Vincent BIDAULT

In the Larousse, mediation would be "acting as an intermediary, especially in communication". Indeed, mediation comes from the Latin "medius" / "mediare" which is in the middle, it expresses equity. Thus, mediation opposes the idea of conflict, avoids confrontation. It aims at a change, a silent transformation (Pr Marcelli).

Mediation requires the requirement of a third party, the objects of mediation offers this third in an intermediate area of experience (Winnicott). In this space, Roussillon proposes that "the investment of the object is superimposed on the investment of oneself, without antagonism, insofar as the investment of the object comes to reflect about its own states". Kaës considers that the concept of mediation "does not exist in itself, it is a process that can not be thought of in isolation, and that makes sense only in a native conflict between the deferred and the immediate".

Mediation is not sufficient in itself, it requires repetition and obviously the benevolent presence of a "good enough" therapist, who gives back to the patient what he brings and who can be erased to allow him access to his true self, so to his creativity.

FUN MEDIATION :

The use of a playful mediation can favor the progressive investment of a space of thought and revive the process of subjectivation. It is by confronting in a playful context his own judgment to the word of the other that one can widen his field of reflection by developing his personal thought.

The playful mediation allows an externalization of the encounter in the concrete object and makes possible what seemed risky inside. It offers to the person the possibility of a look on oneself mediated by the look of another on oneself in the meeting with a shareable object.

FEELINGS MEDIATION :

With Feelings, there is a dual process : introspection first, then the need to be self-centered. It is important to help the players to identify their own emotions as well as those of their partner, thus promoting the process of subjectivation.

This game appeared as a "clutch" of thought processes where everyone, when creating situations could put forward their own concerns and questions. Thus, the possibility of distance from one’s affects makes it easier to tackle aspects of their personal problem.
